Monday Wash Day - Mexican Style

January 2014 - Mazatlan Mexico

A good friend of mine requested that I post "non-touristy" photos of Mexico.
Friends of ours picked us up this morning and we headed out to Concordia.

A few miles south of town, a dirt road leads to a natural, tree-shaded hot spring where women wash clothes. Normally you would only find women here. But today there were a couple of campers filled with young men. They had stopped to wash their clothes, the campers and have a swim at the same time.

It seems back in the early 50s the government upgraded the natural hot springs and erected an overhead structure.

Generations of women have been doing their washing here. you can give the kids a bath as well.

Once they wring out the clothes they spread them around to dry.

The water in the first container is quite warm and you can see the bubbles from the underground springs. It cools off as it moves through the bins.
