My Corner of the World
It's June so let's highlight some weddings!
New Orleans LA
One of the most popular traditions during New Orleans weddings is the famous second line parade. At a wedding if signifies the start of a new beginning of life for the bride and groom. A Brass band leads the bridal party and the guests from the ceremony to the reception venue or it may take place at the reception itself. A second line parade has two parts. The first line is usually a brass band and the ones being honored, the newlyweds. The newly married couple leads the second line holding uniquely decorated umbrellas or parasols. Many couples opt to add a grand marshal, an energetic local who heads the parade. All of the guests who want to join in the celebration make up the second line. The guests form a line behind the band and the newly married couple dance to lively music with handkerchiefs or cocktail napkins in hand!

June 2020 - Toronto ON
We watched Global Goal this weekend.
"The year 2020 has come to be a defining period that has impacted all of us around the world in ways we could have never imagined," host Dwayne Johnson said, explaining the two forces that inspired Saturday's "Global Goal: Unite for Our Future – The Concert": coronavirus and systemic racism.
"As we're doing our very best to process the unprecedented hardships this new virus can cause, we also continue to witness another ongoing disease that plagues our world for decades – centuries even: oppression and inequality," said Johnson, calling George Floyd's death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer a "flashpoint."
I'm pleased to say there was a clip by our prime minister Justin Trudeau.

Sidewalking
Definition: A very pedestrian view on Toronto ON. Focusing on the urban form, but stretching to travel and food.
June 2020 - Toronto ON
Just a note that these walks are being taken during the pandemic so things are different. Some places have not yet opened, most require masks and hand sanitization. Restaurants can only do takeout.
Another walk during the week of June 20 along Queen St. West. This was the first day of Stage 2 in Toronto.
This ramble was west bound from Portland to Ossington, a shorter walk than usual.
The neighbourhood has an eclectic and often eccentric vibe.
What else can you find within this area?
Graffiti Alley - click on Graffiti Alley in the labels/tags below this post to find many links to the Alley. Keep in mind that it is an ever-changing art gallery.
The patios are finally open!! They have one around the corner.
The first day for hair salons! By appointment only. Masks required.
Mexican - take out only.
This is entrance to the Bovine Sex Club – a live music club that has been around for a long long time. Artwork by Dudeman.
Some stores are open.
Anthropologie has set up shop in a converted late 19th-century church. I must go inside and get photos.
You must stop into the John Fluvog store, gravity room!! Photos from our 2018 visit.
Hugs and Sarcasm had their patio open but it doesn't appear to be much social distancing happening.
Popped into 6 Oceans Gallery and came across these fabulous photos by Jennifer Elliotson. PLEASE check out her work.
Her wood prints are spectacular. This would fit my bathroom theme perfectly.
Not sure why this is in the window, says stay warm.
