Recipes - Roasted Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons

I had some tomatoes from the garden that needed to be used up. I have tried tomato soup before from fresh tomatoes but it was usally thin and not very flavoutful.
I came upon this Roasted Tomato Soup and immediately had to try it. It was delicious and very easy.
I didn't make the grilled cheese croutons, but they certainly look delicious. This would be a great recipe for a winter brunch.
I didn't get a photo, what was I thinking???

Wednesday's Words

I'm going to add a new feature to Wednesday Words. I'll create a link to any new blogs that I've foound and decided to follow. This will also let my other blogger friends find new blogs as well that they may find interesting. it is always interesting finding new blogs and there are so many ways to do it.

  • Google a blog topic

  • Follow a link from a blog that you already follow by looking at what that blogger is following

  • Read the Comments section of a blogger and then follow the link back to that commenter

  • This is much like the "Welcome Wagon" post that Cozy Little House posts on a Friday which is yet another way I find new blogs.

Is it any wonder that my Google Reader just gets longer and longer? But how can I help it with so many interesting blogs out there covering a multitude of topics. I follow gardening, cooking, travel, reading, photoography, blogging, work, women blogs!

I have Facebook friends that I met through their blogs. touts his blog as A Newbie's Guide to Publishing

An Indian food site and I love Indian food!

Sunday Baking

Finally! A whole day to myself to play!

Had too many bananas in the freezer so went looking for a really easy banana bread and this couldn't have been easier. I doubled it and it worked out perfectly. You don't even have to use a mixer on it.
I forgot to get a picture until I had cut it and frozen most of it. This half is for the next day or so.

But my main GOAL today was pumpkin cheesecake bars.  These were super easy to make, the only thing I didn't do quite right was to keep only 1/3 of the plain cream cheese batter, resulting in less than a colourful top. I had too much white to mix through the pumpkin layer.

October Garden

The weather's been so beautiful here so I thought I'd post some pictures of the garden, it is hanging in.
Even the honeysuckle won't give in!

Lavender still blooming - couldn't get a pic from a good angle.

Project 365 - September 2010

We decided on random photos for September. Generally they are taken with my Blackberry so the quality is not always the best.

Not sure which was my favourite for this month

Taken during the TIFF festival in the lobby of the Hyatt hotel

Or this taken at Holt Renfrew's - too bad there was a window!

Toronto Thursday - ESL Class

I've been MIA around Blogland for the last 3 weeks as I was taking a Teaching English as a Second Language class on the weekends, 3 of them from 9-6 Saturday and Sunday. so with working full time there's just been no time to blog or read blogs *sigh*!!

Theere are some sites that consideer this course as a scam, whatever, I got what I wanted out of it and I think most of the class did also.
But I really enjoyed the class, particularly the group of 19 others in my class. The energy and enthusiasm was amazing. We went all very nervous for our final presentations but every single person did an astonding job.
Every one remained engaged and participated in all the lessons. We covered every possible subject from making paper puppets to project management to making kites to learning about mummies.

Here are a few pictures I took on the last day.

Sunday Skies - Ireland

Sunset over Galway Bay in Ireland when we were spending a week in the area.

"Galway Bay"

by Arthur Colahan

If you ever go across the sea to Ireland,

Then maybe at the closin' of your day

You will sit and watch the moon rise over Claddagh

And see the sun go down on Galway Bay.

[And if there's to be a life in the hereafter --

And somehow I'm sure there's going to be --

I will ask my God to let me make my heaven

In that dear land across the Irish sea.

Just to hear again the ripple of the trout stream

And the women in the meadows making hay,

To sit beside the turf fire in the cabin

And watch the barefoot gossoons at their play.

For the breezes blowin' across the sea from Ireland

Are perfumed by the heather as they blow.

And the women in the upland diggin' praties

Speak a language that the strangers do not know.

For the strangers came and tried to teach us their way.

They scorned us just for bein' what we are.

But they might as well go chasin' after moon beams

Or light a penny candle from a star.

And if there's to be a life in the hereafter --

And somehow I'm sure there's going to be --

I will ask my God to let me make my heaven,

In that dear land across the Irish sea.]
