"These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" is a hit song written by Lee Hazlewood and recorded by American singer Nancy Sinatra. It charted on January 22, 1966, and reached No. 1 in the United States Billboard Hot 100 and in the UK Singles Chart.

Subsequently, many cover versions of the song have been released in a range of styles: metal, pop, rock, punk rock, country, dance, and industrial. Among the more notable versions are the singles released by Megadeth, Billy Ray Cyrus and Jessica Simpson.

Bogata Columbia - November 1988

Last week I posted Cartagena Columbia, while on that trip we took an overnight tour to Bogata.

We were told this was the black market for currency exchange.

The Bolivar Square (Plaza de Bolivar) was named after Simon Bolivar who was one of South America’s greatest generals. His victories over the Spaniards won independence for Bolivia, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. He is called El Liberator (The Liberator) and the “George Washington of South America.”

To the East side of the square, you will find the Primary Cathedral of Bogotá, the seat of the Archbishop of Bogotá.

Lunch - serving typical Colombian food and it is still around today.

Cartagena Columbia - bonus 2 Cs.

1988 we spent two weeks in Cartagena. This was the one and only time we took an all inclusive.

We took a boat cruise and stopped at an island nearby, I went to the bathroom and came out to this sight!!

November 2013 - Columbia South Carolina

Both of us reflected with the State Capitol in the Christmas tree lights this week.

Driving to Disney - Day 3

Day 3 -   Driving time =     4 hours (  lunch, shopping)  221 miles or 356km

We got on the road after breakfast at 10AM and it was a nippy 5C as it was overcast and damp.

There were runaway truck lanes every mile or so for about five miles along I-77.

Today's goal is Columbia South Carolina which is really only a four hour drive.

We had to make a stop in Stateside at JRs for cigars.

Lunch at Cracker Barrel.

Then some retail therapy at the mall. John bought a casual jacket for with jeans and I picked up four tops in Belk's.
Got back into the car and check out the temperature!

We got to our hotel in Columbia South Carolina's historic district around 4PM.  We decided to walk around town.

Downtown was settling up for the Vista of Lights and the lighting of the Christmas tree.

We made reservations at an Italian restaurant across the street from the hotel.

RECAP - revise driving time to exclude stops.

Day 1 - Driving time = 5 hours ( gas, duty free stop, delay to cross bridge and a lunch stop) 288 miles or 463km

Day 2 - Driving time = 4.5 hours (gas, Michael's, traffic jam, bathroom break, lunch,, gas) 333 miles or 536km

Day 3 -   Driving time =  4 hours (lunch, shopping)  221 miles or 356km

Total to date -      13.5  hours  1355  km  842 miles
