Quartzsite AZ is a popular recreational vehicle camping area for winter visitors with tourism being the major contributor to Quartzsite's economy. The Rubber Tramp Rendezvous, an annual gathering of vandwellers, takes place in January.Nine major gem and mineral shows, and 15 general swap meet shows are very popular tourist attractions, attracting about 1.5 million people annually, mostly during January and February.

Quartzsite is the burial place of Hi Jolly (Hadji Ali), an Ottoman citizen of Greek-Syrian parentage, who took part in the experimental US Camel Corps as a camel driver.

Quartzsite was featured in the book and movie Nomadland.

It's June so let's feature some weddings!

May 2009 - Hong Kong China

In Hong Kong, couples can only be legally registered as married at one of the government registry offices, or by going to one of the few large churches authorized for this purpose.

The couple must apply well in advance to have the ceremony performed at the registry office on the date and time they wish. So there are no late brides here, or they miss their turn!

Some people in Hong Kong, however, may want to be married on a "lucky day," but find they are too late to get their marriage registered on that day.

So they choose to have a customary Chinese wedding, and then, in the meantime, live together before having their marriage registered.
These are various weddings I captured.

Once the mother had seen me taking photos they kindly posed for me.

April Square Challenge - Top

Life of B - April Square Challenge

The theme for April Squares is ‘top‘, and we have five idioms, to choose from;
On Top of the World – summit, crown, peak (tiptop) or uppermost part of something.
Under the Big Top – topping or covering (or if you are really lucky a circus!)
Room at the Top – first or highest in position
Cherry on Top – something made even more wonderful by becoming square
Top and Tail – or maybe you’d prefer to play around with word combinations such as top dog, top stitch, top hat, top secret, top knot, top drawer or top dollar!
The main tag is #SquareTops
