August 2017 - Toronto ON

Found in an area of Toronto that we've never really walked in, Yonge and St. Clair.

Yorkminster Park Baptist Church is the largest Baptist church in Canada, built 1926-8 by the architectural firm George, Moorhouse and King, and is named after the 10th century York Minster in York, England. It is located in Toronto's Deer Park neighbourhood at 1585 Yonge Street, the northeast corner of Yonge and Heath Streets.

YPBC has in the last fifty years been creating a collection of stained glass windows in the sanctuary that cover a wide range of biblical and secular themes, both historical and allegorical.

The great Casavant organ of Yorkminster Park was originally installed in 1928. It is located in the largest pipe chamber in the city of Toronto, measuring 68' wide, 24' deep and 35' tall. It was completely rebuilt in 1965, and a new console was added in 1975; additional ranks have been added since 1986.

  1. With a name like it has you would be forgiven for thinking it was a cathedral. Then you go inside and it is very cathedral like. The stained glass is beautiful.

  4. Think the stained glass outshines the rest of the church
