AGO Toronto ON

Saturday

Six Word Saturday Lincoln NE

Considering it was a dark and rainy day that we had decreed a "jama" day or
hygge,” a Danish term defined as “a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.” Pronounced “hoo-guh,” the word is said to have no direct translation in English, though “cozy” comes close, we got a lot accomplished. Just lots of this and that but many items checked off our lists.

John worked on his new tablet, worked out, watched golf and Coronation St. I watched some MKR Australia.

Tidied up the freezer, some laundry, and played with my new e-reader getting library app installed etc. Why do they have to change the charger every time we buy a newer version? It was perfect before, both our phones and readers took the same cord now our phones are different to my tablet and John's new bigger tablet (to replece his laptop when travelling).

I made our final hotel reservation for our May trip.

Settled in on our bed for the afternoon doing some of the above.

Also it is still John's birthday week, the real day being Sunday.

Interesting movies this week. White Boy Rick premiered at TIFF.

#SpikySquare the final daily entry for March's challenge

Well, that was some birthday surprise for John to wake to!

I made a triple berry cobbler from this recipe. John asked for roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, mushy peas, roast potatoes and sweet potato mash.

We finally watched Life of Pi. I had tried to read the book when it first came out and couldn't finish it.

John attended the first aid course offered in our building and I met a friend for coffee before heading downtown to return that backpack I bought on a whim last week.

Such pretty flowers in our lobby, hopefully, a harbinger of spring???

Tuesday

I spent the morning shopping at The Bay and John did the Costco run.

Tempting!

Me, sending photos of what I bought to BFF.

I walked through the Eaton Centre on my trek home.

And The Bay.

We then went to see about getting his wedding ring stretched to get over his knuckle. The jeweler also offered to clean and polish my ring as well.

We experimented with gluten free English muffins in a mug recipes.

Ramekin with almond and coconut flour

Mug with only almond flour

Both were judged about the same. John thought they'd be good as French toast.

I used the rest of the leftover roast in this recipe sesame beef Thai and noodles.
This sauce was great and will be a go to for other dishes.
This beef that was on sale for $9 made six meals! A pretty good deal.

Another interesting movie...

Wednesday
ABC Wednesday

We went downtown to upgrade our phones and then got some euros for our upcoming trip.

The rest of the day was spent playing with our phones and working on our itinerary.
First photo with camera!

We had been going for burgers at lunch but then decided to have them for dinner instead.

A Photo a Week

I had intended to go to the Textile Museum but first there was an issue on the University subway line that would have been the closest. So I took the Yonge line but then decided it was too cold to walk over to the museum. Instead I went to the library to see if there were any interesting travel books worth borrowing.

John went to pick up our rings which turned out beautifully. Then he had a late lunch with a friend, a former physio therapist.

I made a batch of gluten free Bisquick with this recipe. I cut it in half as I wanted to test it first.
I then used it in my ancient quiche recipe using kale and pepperoni (in freezer) and it worked very well.

I had planned to go for groceries and instead got an invite to lunch with my cousin who has just started a new job downtown. We had a good time catching up and both enjoyed a bowl from the Raw Bar, which I forgot to take a picture.

Groceries done and home to some chores.

It felt more like winter than April! Freezing rain in the forecast so a good day to spend at home.

John made flat whites for us. My favourite type of coffee at Starbucks. They were good and didn't come with that steep price tag.
We fell in love with these in Australia.

Steak, baked potatoes and broccoli for dinner.

BOOKS

There was reading of a different sort this week.

We are both learning the new features on our phones. Also had to get the library application up and running on our phones.

And I have read many travel articles getting our itinerary settled for May.

I did manage to start a book to test out the library app. The Kennedy Debutante
tells the story of Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy ( February 20, 1920 – May 13, 1948)  sister of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.

And I am currently binging out on My Kitchen Rules Australia Season 10!!

  2. I've been wanting to read The Kennedy Debutante. I thought its be interesting. I didn't know there was such a thing as GF Bisquick -- I'll have to look for it for my GF friends. And yeah, why oh why do they have to mess up the cords ... I wish everything used the same ones. It's a pain to set up new devices, but it's also fun to have the latest and greatest.

  3. You've been busy!

There was still snow falling here yesterday evening.

  4. My latest phone, a Samsung, came with the new type universal plug, which all new devices should be using but of course nothing else we have uses that charging plug. At least as well as the charging plug, it came with an adaptor so I can still plug the phone into the desktop without buying a special lead.

    1. We both replaced our Samsung 7s with Samsung 9 and 10. They use the same plug for wall or laptop charging at least.

  5. My phone and tablet used to use the same cord to recharge - I loved that. Now my new tablet requires a different cord. Made me sad.

  6. Haha! The bird in the snow is right, the weather is BS! It is up and down over here too.

  7. Belated happy birthday to your Hubby! Sorry it snowed (assuming you both like the heat of Mex!) How serendipitous you're taking here about vacations, while I had the All Seasons post of one of mine! Had to smile about this bird's opinion about the weather:) But I remember, April 1st of the last year snow fell where I live! Your posts is as always very entertaining - All Seasons thanks you! and hope Spring will catch up with you soon!
