For the letter of the week for this round I am going to go with all things TTC, Toronto Transit Corporation.
Old Mill is our station, as such, we take the bus north to this station to get the subway.
The station, opened in 1968, is built on the west side of the Humber River valley. The west end of the station lies underground with the tunnel continuing toward Royal York. The east end of the platform is elevated on a viaduct that takes the line across the river to re-enter the tunnel on the other side of the valley toward Jane Station.
Glass walls at the train platform's east end provide a view of the riverside park. Bird of prey shaped cutouts have been applied to these large windows to reduce the number of avian fatalities.
I've only been in that station once, years ago. The decorative touches are certainly different.
ReplyDeleteI love that Toronto sign and the reflection off the water! Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDelete...what fabulous subway stations you have come up with. 'U' are right about 'or' in American English. Neat door stop. Thanks for sharing, enjoy your week.
