February 2020 - Toronto ON

On Sunday John and I headed to Yorkville for the ice fest.

This year, all things 80’s are retro-cool again with the “Awesome 80’s” theme that transformed the neighbourhood into a one-of-a-kind display of over 70,000 lbs. of ice sculpted into ice sculptures glittering to the max.

Main Ice Exhibition located beside “The Rock” in the Village of Yorkville Park, included an 80’s sculpture, a Boombox, an Elton John silhouette, Converse sneaker, Madonna – Desperately Seeking Susan, Leg Warmers & Heels, Andy Warhol, a Roller Skate and Eddie Van Halen!

A demonstration.

It was crowded, but that's what you get when you get there at 1:30!

I'll let you figure out the rest of the 80s icons.

  1. I got there at 1 pm. I was a bit underwhelmed by some of the pieces - it has been better in other years.

    1. WE haven't gone in years so didn't have anything to compare.

  2. ...what an icy wow. One of these years it would be fun to see a show like this, but until then I'll just have to enjoy the beach. Thanks Jackie for sharing this cool post. Stay warm.
