September 2019 - Toronto ON
We found this church last Sunday when we were at the Taste of the Kingsway.
It was open, however, a Mass was taking place.
Our Lady of Sorrows parish includes the central section of Etobicoke where two much earlier Catholic missions once served as the first Roman Catholic places of worship in Etobicoke.
The bronze door – a 75th anniversary gift to the parish from donor Catholics from across the archdiocese – was created in Italy by world renowned contemporary sculptor Maestro Ernesto Lamagna.
It features St. Michael the Archangel, patron saint of the Archdiocese of Toronto, on its exterior, and the Blessed Mother on the interior – standing at the cross caressing the feet of Jesus crucified on one side, and holding Jesus in her arms after his crucifixion on the other.
...so many beautiful details.
