March 2017 - Bakersfield CA
I posted some other murals within a post about Bakersfield. But I kept these for a Monday post because I thought they were very special.
Merle Haggard and Buck Owens sing The Streets of Bakersfield. It so happens they both married the same woman, at different times!
And the Rolling Stones mention Bakersfield in this song, Far Away Eyes.
Done by Thomas (Zak) Zachery, from Bakersfield on a restaurant The Mark. They are on several sides of the building.
Love the red carpet!
This landmark drinking establishment was founded in 1940, originally as Oscar’s Alley Cat, and still pours drinks well into the evening, with no shortage of customers.
Located on Wall Street, which is actually an alley in downtown, Guthrie’s Alley Cat can’t be seen from any of the navigable roads in town.
Tony Saldano was the local artist for this one.
...Bakersfield looks like a happening place.
ReplyDeletethese are all so great!
ReplyDeleteWow! These are very cool murals. Now you have me thinking how fun it would be to do a mural-themed trip to cities and towns in California.
ReplyDeleteThey are all great - especially the first batch!
ReplyDeleteLove all the murals Jackie. Great old world scenes!
ReplyDeleteCool set of murals. Like Pat I especially enjoyed the trompe l'oeil murals featuring the 20s, 30s, and 50s. Very evocative of the era. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteThese are so amazing!
ReplyDeleteFabulous work on these murals!
