T Stands For is hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard
March 2013 - New Orleans LA
In the spring of 2013, we spent a few days in New Orleans on our way home from our first retired winter away from home.
We had stopped here for coffee on a city tour.
I discovered as I wrote this that Morning Call is no more and is being replaced by the iconic Cafe du Monde.
After 6 great years in City Park we’re sad and disappointed to announce that Sunday January 20 2019 will be our last day! Thanks to all our loyal friends and customers for making Morning Call a true New Orleans icon! We are looking forward to seeing everyone in the near future! Thanks to City Park for allowing us to take a desolate and under appreciated old Casino building and turn it into a thriving and naturally New Awlins experience! Who Dat!
Happy T and Happy New Year
ReplyDeleteThe disappearance of somewhere near half the restaurants and cafes in the country is going to be felt for a long time. Every new lost place will reduce our well-being, and will impoverish more workers. It's really criminal that the government did not act to prevent the disaster, though of course the pandemic meant that some losses were inevitable. It's good of you to focus on just one of the large number of lost places.
ReplyDeletebe well and have a good New Year's holiday... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Loos like an interesting place, shame it's no longer in business! Happy T Day and Happy New Year, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYet another establishment has met its fate. So sad. I hope the building found a replacement because it sounds like it had been in disrepair prior to Morning Call moving in. So glad you shared these photos and you were able to stop there before it disappeared. Thanks for this look back at a New Orleans staple with us for T this Tuesday, dear Jackie.
ReplyDeletePlaces like this will be so missed. The younger generations have no idea how much the local coffee places, and mom and pop eateries made up for gatherings and great food. I guess Starbucks takes the place, but certainly not the same. Enjoy your day and many wishes for 2021.
ReplyDeleteI like the fun lettering and illustrations on the ordering board. Happy T Day!
