September 2017 - Climax MI

In 1825, John Mullet was among the first white settlers in Climax, along with Calvin White (1831), and the Farnsworth brothers (1832)  More Euro-American settlement of this area began in 1838. It was incorporated as a village in 1899.

Climax is so known because when Daniel B. Eldred first visited the township he said, "This caps the climax."

  2. ...Jackie, I had to figure out where Climax is! For someone who doesn't enjoy snow that shot at the falls is mighty nice. Neat clouds, a bit of blue sky is always a great addition. Thanks so much for being here this week, I hope to see you again.

  5. Hey, Jackie, I like your Climax. We also have one here, in Georgia. Every fall they have a Swine Time Festival. All kinds of fun and displays. Our daughter, now 43, entered a 'catch the greasy pig' contest when she was about five. She caught one but another girl wrestled it away from her. Best for me was a Pig Calendar from a local bank. Mrs. Jim liked picking up pecans beneath all the trees, no cost. For a small sum a pecan house would crack them for her with their machine.
Lagniappe is French for "something extra," like the 13th donut free when you buy a dozen. I learned it from Mrs. Jim, it was in her vocabulary when I married her.

  6. Great shot of the ice on that fence at the falls. I saw some other shots from the falls this past week and it looked very magical - not every winter it ends up like that!
