October Scavenger Hunt

October 2015 - mostly in Palm Springs CA

I tried to find photos from our two weeks in Palm Springs for October's hunt. But I did have to go into my archives for a couple of challenges.

What have you found this month?
October's List

Question
Highway 10 near Palm Springs

Cream
Ice cream art in a gallery on El Paseo PS

Number
The sign for 29 Palms, a town near Joshua Tree Park.

Lattice
This was tough. But I took this photo at the La Quinta Historical Museum and I feel that the wood underneath the straw is a lattice.

Familiar
Lucy is familiar to everyone.  And this statue is very familiar to us, we have been to Palm Springs many times and always make sure we drop by to see her.

Ring

Today
I chose last night's sunset from our condo in Toronto.

Down
Waiting for these guys to stop looking DOWN at Living Desert.

Writing
Writing on the walls at La Quinta Historical Museum.

Many
College of the Desert street fair

Broken
I had to go to my archives (June 2015) for this. A photo taken immediately after my camera hit the ceramic floor in our kitchen. The glass on the lens smashed into a million pieces but only one shard actually fell out hence the blur on the right.
I since had it mended.

Whatever you want
We took part in a photo shoot this week for a friend's photography website. Vintinner Photography

Saturday Snapshot

Saturday Snapshots is hosted by West Metro Mommy

March 2015 - Auckland New Zealand

While wandering around Auckland we noticed these eggs. I would have loved to have the time to find them all as I love scavenger hunts. They are also in Christchurch and Wellington.

Click here for a hunt that we did in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island last summer.

I found the following information at the official website.

INGRID BOOT Floral Couture

DEAN PROUDFOOT We Can Be Heroes

BRAD NOVAK (AKA NBP76) #NewBloodPop

PAUL SHIH The Goose That Laid The Giant Golden Egg

Click here to see more of the eggs - information source.
The Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt in support of Starship has raised more than $200,000 for the Starship Foundation, a charity supporting our national children’s hospital to provide world-leading care for almost 120,000 patient visits each year.
A total of $204,333 was raised from the sale of 100 giant eggs created by New Zealand artists, 20 of which were auctioned at a gala event and 80 of which were auctioned on Trade Me.  Corporate sponsorships and donated goods and services also contributed significantly to the overall success of the campaign.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

The rules are simple:
Anyone can participate.
You’re encouraged to take five new photos this week for the challenge. Creativity is also encouraged!
If you get stumped, you may use one photo from your archive (although I’m not too strict about it – I do my best to take fresh shots).

Season - verb
  1. 1.
add salt, herbs, pepper, or other spices to (food).
"season the soup to taste with salt and pepper"

What I’m Looking At - this week I went to look at an exhibit of Mexican costumes and fabrics.

In Motion - slowly as the cars snaked their way in a stop - start motion.

It Means A Lot to Me - my husband, my city. Taken coming home from Farmers' Market on Saturday with cell phone. Living where we do with the lake outside our door and a farmers' market within walking distance is great.

Photographer’s Choice - taken on our walk home from the market.

May 2015 - Toronto ON

MIRROR - we went to Doors Open yesterday. This is an annual event that allows the public entrance to buildings that are generally not open to the public. We toured around the University of Toronto campus.
Hart House is the student activity centre, opened in 1919 and one of the earliest North American student centres. This mirror was on display in one of the galleries.

  • STRIPES - The Soldiers' Tower was open and there was a display of Canadian military medals.

CRISP- on Friday my BFF and I went to see an outdoor photography display, part of the Scotiabank CONTACT exhibit around the city. I showed some photos yesterday of another venue.
The photographer is Isabelle Wenzel.

What could be crisper than a white pleated skirt?

ENERGY - back at U of  T at the Goldring Centre for high performance sport, a new complex.

NEGATIVE SPACE - back at Hart House (first photo above MIRROR) was this display. There wasn't any tag to explain what this meant.

April 2015 - Toronto ON

I haven't played along in almost a year!!!

Weather - been rather a rainy week with a few snow flakes thrown in. This was the rather interesting view from our window earlier this week. Storm clouds kept moving in and out.

My Perspective - we've been away for four months so this is my first photo of the weekly flower arrangements in our condo lobby. They do larger ones in the main lobby but I like this small one in a side hall.

Technology - not quite "techie" as in computers but I bought some attachments for my Kitchen Aid this week. Tried out the shredder on carrots for soup and it worked well.

Fresh - looking out after some rain.

Me - we were invited to a charity dinner this week and it was the first time in a long time that we got dressed up so we decided to take a selfie before we left.
The entertainment at the dinner was Chantal Kreviazuk playing for 150 people to support the Skate with Daniel foundation.

October 2014 - TORONTO ON

  • Paint -  John painted our bathrooms last week after we had the new cabinets installed.

  • Pumpkin - flora display at the condo next door.

  • Family - it was Canadian Thanksgiving last week and we had two family dinners.

  • Looking Cute - my cousin's daughter getting dressed up.

  • Photographer’s Choice - the butterflies are prolific at the moment so I had a lot of photos to choose from.
