Monday Mural

I'm linking up at Monday Mural

May 2022- Collingwood ON

We spent a week in the Georgian Bay area last week. Click here for the links to our road trip.

Side Launch heralds the shipbuilding industry that was the lifeline of Collingwood for almost 100 years by capturing the larger than life feeling of the ships and their launches. It was originally painted on-site by John Hood and installed across the intersection from its current location in 2000. In 2014, following two years in storage, Side Launch found a new home on the north-east wall of Loblaw Great Foods.

Busy Wagons depicts what the colour and activity of Collingwood's main street might have been at the turn of the 20th century. It was the first in a series of murals commissioned to celebrate the new millennium. Acrylic on brick, the mural is an impressive 12 feet by 84 feet and is located at 70 Hurontario Street.

  1. Nice works. Funny that I remember your post about Collingwood but not the name itself. We have a rather different Collingwood here.

  4. Both murals are fabulous. I especially like the second one for all the details you shared. However, I am delighted Side Launch finally got a permanent home.
