Textile Museum of Canada

 June 2022 - Toronto ON

I saw two other exhibits when I was at the Textile Museum the other day. Click here for the main exhibit, Water Life.

Sheridan College Textiles Graduate Showcase
Meet the next generation of textiles artists and designers in this exhibition showcasing the work of Textiles graduates from the Honours Bachelor of Craft & Design Program at Sheridan College. This celebratory exhibition is the culmination of hard work and perseverance through several years of uncertainty and change. Threads of Meaning explores the diversity of techniques and approaches in textiles from functional objects, reflections on individual and cultural histories, to material research and installation-based work.

Textiles and the Environment presents the first phase of the Museum’s re-imagining of our former gallery of global textiles into a welcoming community space for visitors who will be active participants in dynamic cultural experiences inspired by collection objects. This exhibition highlights how a selection of handmade textiles from around the world is intertwined with nature and the health of the planet; it explores the life cycle of a textile in relation to sustainability, and daily life.

  1. In the first group, I was wishing some of those beauties came in my size. Such luscious fabrics! And I believe at one time cowry shells were currency in many cultures.
