November 2020 - Toronto ON

Coffee on an autumn afternoon during the pandemic in a period when cafes were allowed to be open for outdoor seating.

It is named for a street in this area near Church and Wellington which was home to a red light district of bars and brothels near the harbour around the turn of the century.

It is the kind of place you would like in your neighbourhood. By day a spot to work and have coffee and pastries, and come quitting hour, you can have a glass of wine.

They feature a Great Toronto Fire is a tea latte made with local Pluck’s Canoe Lake, a little maple syrup and a topping of torched marshmallow Fluff.

A turmeric latte uses Pluck’s Harvest Gold tea with locally grown and milled cranberries and blueberries, turmeric, ginger and cinnamon, plus an extra dusting of cinnamon on top.

A Chai Blossom is house chai mixed with soda and lime juice, and finished off with star anise and a twist of citrus.

There is a Teetotaler on their mocktail menu.

The Bramble is an alcoholic option based on Broker’s gin, with lemon and a vibrant and sweet house blackberry, raspberry and strawberry syrup.

  5. These are interesting sounds drinks. The Chai blossom sounds interesting. I wonder if the Toronto Fire is too sweet. It must not have a lot of maple syrup in it. These are fun Jackie. They make me want to spread my tea wings a bit. Hope you day is going well. hugs-Erika

  12. What a fun place this would be to visit and I suspect a great place/area to live, too. I would prefer the coffee (Great Toronto Fire sounds good) and pastries, but the Teetotaler would be my non-alcoholic choice after work. Thanks for taking us to Henrietta Lane for coffee, tea and fun for T this Tuesday, dear Jackie.
