September 2015 - Ring of Kerry Ireland
Healy's Pass goes over the Cork-Kerry border, crossing the spectacular Caha Mountains.
It was created in 1847 during the famine years in order to help prevent starvation. It’s named for Time Michael Healy, a politician from Cork who served as the first governor general of the Irish Free State. Upon his retirement, Healy asked that the bridleway winding through the pass be upgraded and improved.
No that looks like some climb.ReplyDelete

Rugged but beautiful!ReplyDelete
I remember going through this pass during our time in and around Killarney this year; the views are stunning!ReplyDelete
