Thursday Doors

Linking up at Norm's Thursday Doors.

May 2019 - Paris France

We visited Pere Lachaise on a very gloomy wet day which curbed my enthusiasm and cut short our visit. Just a great excuse to go back again!

Tronc pour les pauvres is an alms/charity box, often see in churches in Europe.

It was installed by the General Administration of Public Assistance, probably around the middle of the 19th century. This public establishment founded in 1849 was intended to manage the Paris hospitals, as well as social welfare services.

  1. Cemeteries in France are so interesting to explore, aren't they, Jackie? I also love all the stonework. Lovely shots.
