Wondrous Words Wednesday

Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme where we share new (to us) words that we’ve encountered in our reading and is hosted by Bermuda Onion.

segotia - n. good friend, mate, buddy, pal. Also segocia, segosha

Came across this word while reading Dalkey Archives and had to look it up at Double Tongued. Seems it is also mentioned in At Swim, Two Boys, Angela's Ashes and Finnigan's Wake. It is also covered in The Dictionary of Irish Slang.
