Painted as a part of the theme ‘Forest City Playground’, Market Lane is now home to four stunning works of art by three talented artists.
Stephanie Boutari, Hawlii Pichette and Meaghan Claire Kehoe were brought on board to transform the exterior brick wall of the WIL Employment Connections building in Market Lane (the pedestrian walkway that connects Dundas Place to Covent Garden Market).
FIELD OF DREAMS Meaghan Claire Kehoe is representing youth in community and the dandelions represent wishes for the future. A field of dreams. The ice cream, while tying into the Ice Box ice cream shop also stands in for the fun, vibrancy and diversity our youth represents taking us into that future they set out through their dreams and imaginings.

JUMBO BEGINNING Kayla Whitney: It is a really devastating story. I think from beginning to end the story of his life is completely tragic. That is the reason I decided to make this mural of what would have been the best moments of his life. This mural is a celebration of his time in Sudan with his mother, before she was murdered for her tusks and he was taken from his home. I think if any parts of his life should be commemorated it should be these glorious moments of peace with his mother and family before human beings intervened and caused so much suffering.
MAGIC CARPET This painting depicts many significant features of St. Thomas, including City Hall, the Jumbo Monument, the Street Railway, and the Old St. Thomas Church. All of these featured locations are within walking distance of this mural.
ELGIN'S FINEST This mural honours the many men from Elgin Regiment’s 91st Battalion, and the railways which were used to transport soldiers, weapons, and food during the World Wars.
ST. THOMAS STREET RAILWAY ST. THOMAS STREET RAILWAY: 1906
The St. Thomas street railway opened in 1879 and spanned a 10 mile line through downtown St. Thomas. Many of the buildings seen in this mural are still standing today and can been seen along Talbot Street.

Artists SBU ONE has just added a memorable mural on panels featuring an elephant inspired by Jumbo – the design presents Jumbo in a dream-like state, perhaps a final resting place.
MAKE YOUR MARK This mural was painted to celebrate the 50 years of art education in St. Thomas and Elgin County and to commentate the Public Art Centre’s 50th Anniversary.

I can't believe I just watched Exit Through the Gift Shop (a Banksy film) yesterday! It tells the story of the beginning of street art. I totally enjoyed it and would watch again. It features Mr. Brainwash who just painted a mural in Yorkville here in Toronto a few weeks ago.
Part 1 - College St at Eulcid St.

This is the first of the murals we found in the lane off Eulcid, a collaborative project in 2018 and 2019.
StreetART Toronto posted all of the amazing work done by KJ Bit Collective Sep 7-8 2019 weekend at The BIT Laneway Project just south of Palmerston & Euclid. They had also painted of some these in 2018.
Source KJ Bit is an emerging collective who want to brighten the streets of Toronto with artwork! Members Jieun June Kim and Erika James share a common interest in community-engaged arts and we want to invite local residents and emerging artists to paint garages in Euclid laneway to deter graffiti vandalism. Jieun recently moved to Canada from South Korea, and Erika has been working in community-engaged arts for two years. Since meeting at a Mural Arts Career Development program for emerging artists/program managers in April, we’ve worked collaboratively on several projects. Our name uses the Korean word “bit” which means “brightness, gleam, illumination, and radiance” and we want to bring this “beam of light” to our vibrant city! Meaghan Claire Kehoe (aka MCK) is an emerging full-time artist local to Oshawa, Toronto and Waterloo.
Her murals can be enjoyed in over 50 Starbucks cafés across southern Ontario as well as in other commercial and private spaces like Food Basics and Brickworks Cider House, as well as public areas such as Toronto Underpass Park, London Convention Centre, and Kitchener City Hall.
Greta Thunberg (born January 2003) is a Swedish teenager who is credited with raising global awareness of the risks posed by global warming/climate change, and with holding politicians to account for their lack of action on the climate crisis.
Wenting Li is an illustrator and inveterate reader working out of Toronto. Her work is preoccupied with colour and movement, the relationship between shapes, and the subtleties of complementing story with picture.
