T for Tuesday

T Stands For is hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard

I was watching something on TV the other night and a reference was made to Junior's cheesecake in New York City and it reminded me that we had been there and it was perfect for T for Tuesday.

Click here for the trip recap.

According to GO Brooklyn, "At the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb avenues in Downtown Brooklyn, there has been a diner run by the Rosen family since 1929. In 1950, the name was changed to Junior's, and it has been serving its famous cheesecake and other goodies ever since."

Rosen worked with master baker Eigel Peterson to create the cheesecake known today as "The World's Most Fabulous Cheesecake", based on a recipe that was in the Rosen family for three generations. In addition to cheesecake, Junior's features deli sandwiches (particularly corned beef and pastrami), ten ounce steakburgers, cheese blintzes, and unique onion rings.

We did have lunch before our dessert!

Mine - chopped liver!

Pastrami and soup

  5. Oh my! Everything looks delicious and makes me hungry. I can imagine how many calories are in a single piece of the cheesecake. Surely more than a days worth for me. Pictures are the perfect calorie free meal.
I have heard of this restaurant and their famous cheesecake. I would love to visit some time.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  8. That has to be some extraordinary cheesecake in order to afford that corner building and for it not to have changed hands for so long. I admit, the cheesecake DOES look good, but your sandwich doesn't (says this vegetarian). Thanks for taking us to Juniors and for the coffee and cheesecake you shared with us for T this Tuesday, dear Jackie.

I would have been here sooner, but I've been stuck with my new tax man most of the past two days. Nothing like waiting till the last minute to get everything filed. Deadline in the states is 15 April.
