More Vegas Opulance

January 2017 - Las Vegas NV

We walked some of the Strip last week. This week we'll cover a few more casinos and sights.

This time we'll head south on the Strip.

We'll start at Harrah's and cross Las Vegas Blvd, where we stopped last week.

There are mobile billboards everywhere.

We take the pedestrian bridge from Treasure Island into Fashion Show.
The mall spans 1,888,151 sq ft (175,415.0 m2) of space, with more than 250 stores and seven anchors, and hosts weekend fashion shows on a retractable runway with the mall's central atrium, hence the name.

We'll cross over to Wynn.

The US$2.7-billion resort is named after casino developer Steve Wynn and is the flagship property of Wynn Resorts Limited. The resort covers 215 acres (87 ha). It is located at the northeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Sands Avenue, directly across The Strip from the Fashion Show Mall.

The 614-foot (187 m)-high hotel has 49 floors, with the 2,716 rooms ranging in size from 640 sq ft (59 m2) to villas at 7,000 sq ft (650 m2). The complex also includes a 111,000 sq ft (10,300 m2) casino, a convention center with 223,000 sq ft (20,700 m2) of space and 76,000 sq ft (7,100 m2) of retail space. Together with the adjacent Encore, the entire Wynn resort complex has a total of 4,750 rooms, making it the world's seventh-largest hotel

Here's a photo from our condo of both hotels, on the left.

The water dances to old Rat Pack songs.

Inside there are upscale shops.

The carousel is permanent. The carousel is 13 feet tall, 16 feet wide and weighs 6,000 pounds.

They add Chinese New Year decorations at this time of year.

The hot air balloon is also permanent. It is 20 feet tall and weighs 4,000 pounds.

The atrium floor.

Parasol Up Down bar.

John steps outside to the main entrance.

Back outside and looking across at Fashion Show.

Heading back and looking towards Treasure Island.

We're approaching Venetian and look back towards Treasure Island.

Across the street towards Mirage.

Chinese New Year.

Back to our shuttle at Harrah's.

  1. I had to keep craning my neck upwards all the time, Jackie! :) Loved the parasol bar. Ah, the high life!
    Thanks for sharing :)

  2. Vegas is close enough to be one of our quick get-away places and your post has brought back some great memories and made me think it is time to head there again for a shot of this 'adult Disneyland'!

  3. It's been a couple of years since I've been to Vegas! I practically grew up there! I'm sure it's changed since I was last there when I turned 21 9 years ago! #WanderfulWednesday

  4. What a feast - I like the Chinese year, ever since my son worked in Chine for 5 years:)
Jackie, double checked all the link ups and it looks like you forgot to link up for this week. Had a glitch where I accidentally put the post in "trash" and had to figure out how to recover it again. There was one who tried connect during that time. So, if you tried too during that time, I apologize, and be assured it's back up, and hope you can make it before 7pm Pacific time, and if not to see you next week! Your posts are always a pleasure to read and view:):)

  5. Hi Jackie, what an amazing looking place Vega is, the buildings look huge. I do love the pretty colours of the Chinese New Year, a very nice way to mark the end of a year. Your photos are lovely thank you for showing us round.

Thank you for linking up with the #MMBC.

  6. I love that they incorporated Chinese New Year into the decor - so festive and fun! Thanks for sharing and linking with #FarawayFiles! Cheers from Copenhagen, Erin

  7. Really interesting walk through - haven't been to Vegas so great to see this!

  8. I returned to Vegas last year after not having been there in 20 years - it had changed quite a bit! There had been no Wynn or Venice or Bellagio or Paris when I was there before. The Wynn is pretty amazing and we spent most of our time there on our strip walk. It's never boring in Sin City!

  9. What a town - it has something for everyone!

  10. Now that you mention it, I realized I have never entered the Wynn. The ornaments in there look very similar to the Bellagio. It would be nice to stay in that hotel. I have heard the views from the rooms are incredible. #TPThursday

  11. Intriguing variety of street scenes. A most unusual resort design.

  12. grane fantasia e colori in questo in questo post, strardinario l'arcobaleno
    felice di avervi conosciuto

  13. It always amazes me how HUGE the complexes in Vegas are. It's hard to
comprehend. Thanks for the walk through. That carousel is so pretty! Thanks for linking #citytripping

  14. I love the sound of the dancing water - I find it so hard to visualise the scale of some of the Vegas buildings! #citytripping
