240 : Criminals, ID Photos, Named Photos, False Pretences

Ar first I was stumped with this topic, then I had a *light bulb* moment! I reread the prompts and *facepalm* I had scanned all the papers my mother had kept in the old brown suitcase.

My Dad was an electrician. That might explain why my Mom was always on his case about extra plugs. I especially remember her frustration at Christmas time when she couldn't put the tree where she wanted it!!

When we emigrated to Canada in 1957 Dad had to be re-certified so he could work in Quebec.

  1. It's great that you've held onto these documents!

  2. You've added a new word to my personal dictionary - I hadn't come across 'facepalm' before. Good mug shot of your Dad

  3. My son is an electrician - in business for himself. Good profession & a handy relation to have around when you need an electrical something-or-other installed, moved, tweaked, or whatever. :))

  4. ID photos are routinely bad, but not so with your dad. He was blessed with natural good looks that dared the camera to show otherwise.

  5. Wow, what a great collection to have. I also never heard of the facepalm before, very interesting.

  6. Isn't funny how we expect our partners to do the things they're qualified to do at home as well as at work. My husband used to get really cross when I wouldn't answer the phone but I figured I'd spent all day answering phones and didn't want to know about them when I got home. On the other hand, he runs a cleaning business. Enough said.

  7. Well, you learn something new every day, not just what *facepalm* means but also a little know fact from your family background!

  8. I like old documents like this. The dog-eared corners and grime add more value in personal history than just a one word description on a census record.

  9. Facepalm - I hadn't heard of that either but it's something we all do really. Much easier to to say than the expression 'light dawns on the cement works', which effectively means the same thing. Nice ID photo of your father.

  10. Me too, learned what facepalm means...thanks. I forgot that I had an ID badge from the 40s of my dad's too. Well, maybe there will be another opportunity, there usually is around here!

  11. What a neat document to have! A photograph, signature, fee, date - it's really got everything.
