Saturday Snapshot

August 2014 - Charlottetown Prince Edward Island

We just returned from a driving trip to New Brunswick and PEI, two of Canada's Maritime provinces.

These are some photos taken wandering around these unique, compact city, known as the Birthplace of Confederation. In Canada, the term Confederation refers to the union of the three British North American colonies of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Canada to become the Dominion of Canada on July 1, 1867. The three colonies were made into the four provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec. The other provinces and territories entered Confederation later.

No skyscrapers, no rushing.

The pace slows right down on the East Coast.

Lots and lots of great restaurants and they are always busy in the evenings.

There is an abundance of art and theatre for such a small city.

Cruises from New York dock here.

  2. We loved PEI when we stopped there on a cruise a couple of years ago. Most of the building look very familiar. I would love to head back there some day and wander around a little more.

  7. It's like stepping back in time, seeing a town like this.
I love the colourful window baskets - very European.

Did you also do the Anne of Green Gables tour while you were on PEI?

  9. I used to live on the coast of Maine, and that state has this place's feel in some spots, though this a gorgeous destination. There was a ferry from Maine to PEI; wish I had taken it at the time. Thanks for sharing.
