Some photos from our trip to Egypt. These are taken in Giza, just outside Cairo. Who would believe there is a KFC directly across the street???
The Pyramids of Giza are over 4500 years old. They were built as the burial places for Khufu, Khfare, and Menkaure, three Pharaohs during the Old Kingdom.
Despite the efforts of many people to dismantle and plunder them, they have survived to this day. They are visible proof of the superb mathematical, construction and organisational skills of the ancient Egyptians. This was serious project planning!!!
They are the only remaining original Seven Wonders of the World.

I wonder why on earth they let a KFC open next to such a historical site? Doesn't make sense does it?

These are all so awesome. When we visited Mozart's house in Austria I was appalled to see KFC right there also. Horrible!

ReplyDeleteOh these are lovely. I'm just amazed at what the Egyptians accomplished with sweat and backbreaking labor. And the camels - not my favorite sort of ride - and they spit, don't they? LOL

The KFC would seem completely out of place! Thanks for sharing your photos of your trip! I'd love to go there someday, and I'm assuming it's one of those places that's breathtaking in person.

ReplyDeleteEgypt would be an extraordinary place to visit. I've seen tv footage showing the built up city so close, pictures make it seem so isolated. It's a bit like the White House, I was so surprised when I visited it- the tv makes it look like it's in the country, but of course it's in the middle of DC.
