This will be my final post on The Green in Charlotte NC.I loved this park with its literature theme.

Camouflaged speakers emit the sounds of bees buzzing, these stamped iron tiles are inlaid throughout the brick walkways.

There are  poems engraved on large brass sheets, made to look like manuscript pages, just lying precariously around The Green.

Brick Kids - Life is an Open Book
The Brick Association of the Carolinas commissioned this sculpture honoring the AIA (American Institute of Architects) of both North and South Carolina. In keeping with the literary theme of The Green sculpture garden, "Life Is An Open Book" by Brad Spencer shows brick children climbing an open brick book.

Last week I mentioned that I enjoyed The Green so much that I would be back with more photos.
And I'll be back again with more photos!!


The entrance to the park is flanked with two large bronze sculptures depicting stacked towers of books.

 These books reflect the theme of world literature.

That's me, to give you an idea of the size of these sculptures!

Charlotte NC The Green Part 1

I enjoyed this park so much and took so many pictures that I am going to do separate posts to do justice to it. The Green is a one and a half acre park at 400 South Tryon Street in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. The Green is the site of various public events, such as movie screenings and free plays, including summer performances by the Charlotte Shakespeare Festival.

I loved the whimsical direction signs pointing to real places but combined to form the name of well-known authors.
