This has only been up for 2 hours and Mamdani has already ratioed Vance by a margin of 106:1
JD Vance is terminally online, You just know he's sitting somewhere absolutely fuming about this ratio
Mamdani doing the biggest ratio in twitter history in front of our very eyes
"Ratio" is trending because it has become the internet’s universal, shortcut way to downvote an unpopular opinion or video. Since major platforms like TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) do not have public "dislike" buttons for comments, users use a metric "ratio" to collectively prove someone wrong.
There are two main ways people use it online:
1. The Disagreement Challenge (The Most Common Use)
When someone posts a really bad take, another user will simply reply with the single word: "ratio".
• The Goal: The person replying wants their "ratio" comment to get more likes than the original post.
• The Result: If the reply gets 10,000 likes and the original bad take only has 2,000 likes, the original poster has been successfully "ratioed". It is a public, measurable receipt showing that the community completely disagrees with them.
