Tribute to Banksy's Girl with Balloon.
Geneviève Thauvette: Breaking News consists of a series of hand tinted self-portrait photographs that satirize the format and content of news reports. Through parody and caricature, heavy subject matter such as abduction, flood, disaster, and dictatorship are depicted in a surreal and jocular newsroom simulation. While the images are bright and enticing, Thauvette’s installation incites viewers to consider how individuals in power and mainstream media work hand-in-hand to undermine the integrity and veracity of current events.
The mural in the third photo is fantastic (John's finger edited out). Well done Pete Fowler.
