I'm posting at Sepia Saturday today.

I am going with the suggestion of three men.

Three transplanted Dubliners.
I know that this is Montreal around the early 1960s. My Dad, Jack, is the handsome man in the middle. On the right is my Uncle Brendan O'Shea, married to my Mom's sister Nellie. On the left, with the glasses (X 2), is Jim O'Connell, married to my Mom's youngest sister, Ursula.
Whose house this is? I can't figure out, nothing is familiar to me. I can guess it is probably the O'Shea's, and it might be on Durocher St. or else where they moved after Durocher.
I will have to ask my aunt.
Dad has his suit jacket on, but the other two are in shirt sleeves, rolled up.

We went to the Ripley Aquarium last week. We arrived around 4:30, knowing that the school buses and tours would be leaving. There wasn't any line up and they have automated ticket machines to get your tickets.

Downstairs, in the centre, is a play area for the little ones. You can take a break and then continue.

We took so many photos!

This was so peculiar looking that I took a photo of the sign to remember what the heck it was.

The highlight is being able to watch the fish swim over your head while standing on a very slow moving moving walkway. You can also just stroll along.

I named him Casper.

And of course you have to exit through the gift shop, which, however, did have some very nice items at reasonable prices.

Chinatown - contains a tribute RIP Alfa
I found this article from The Globe and Mail from February 2005.


When Bardia Bryan Zargham got serious about graffiti, he chose Alpha as his tag and set about painting all over Toronto.

That was about five years ago, and since then, "Alpha" and "Alfa" have appeared from back alleys to boxcars, bringing underground fame to the 18-year-old artist and frustration from those who wished he would stop.

"One time I asked him, 'Why did you pick that name?' " his father, Saeed Zargham, said yesterday, "and he said, 'Because Alpha is the beginning of everything.' "

On Tuesday night, Alpha marked the end of everything for young Mr. Zargham. At about 9:45 p.m., right after he tagged a parked freight car with baby-blue spray paint, he was struck dead by a train near Dupont and Christie streets....

[Alpha's father] is taking comfort from the passion he showed for his work, fatal as it was.

That passion, the father said, sprang from a simple desire to be known and for his work to be seen, not to harm anyone.



"From the outside, when you look at it . . . it's not worth it. But for him, he put his life on the line for this.



"I lost a son, an 18-year-old son, but I'm proud of him."

St. Vitus Cathedral

St. Vitus Cathedral is the most important and the largest church in Prague. It is situated at the Prague Castle and it is a burial place of former Czech Kings. The Czech Crown Jewels and a large treasure are kept there. St. Vitus Cathedral has two parts: the Gothic eastern tract with the main tower, built in the 14 th and 15 th century, and the western neo-Gothic part with two spires, built in the 19 th century and at the turn of the 20 th century.

When Charles IV acquired the bones of St. Vitus - a popular fourth-century martyr - and brought them to Prague, the city became a center of the St. Vitus cult.

Until the nineteenth century the Golden Gate (Porta Aurea) was the main gate of St. Vitus. It was used as the doorway by which kings entered on coronation day. Just above the entrance is a large mosaic of the Last Judgment.
