Miscouche PEI

August 2014 - Miscouche PEI

I'll admit that my husband was less than enthusiastic as I excitedly pointed towards another church, he had already humoured me earlier in the day at last week's inSPIREd Sunday entry.

He parked in front and let me wander around. Such a pretty colour.

The name Miscouche is derived from the Mi'kmaq term for "little grassy island".

The church is valued for its well preserved High Victorian Gothic architecture; as an example of the work of Island architect, George Edwin Baker; and for its importance to the heritage of the Acadian people of Miscouche.

I am getting smarter and walked around to the side to see if I had missed anything which caused me to wave frantically at John to bring the car around.

This is a plaque to the CND nuns. My high school was taught by these nuns and our school uniforms mimicked their habits. We had the pointed long collars on our blouses.

A plaque to Acadian ancestors.

There's our lonesome car patiently awaiting our return.

  3. Wow! What a beauty of a church. I love all the gingerbread on the facade. It is so well kept. I do like to wander through old cemeteries too. Nice post. MB

  6. Thanks for showing all the detailing. It is lovely. I get a few quiet sighs, too, when I want to stop for photos.
