I'm linking up at Monday Mural
August 2023 - Whitehorse Yukon
Located facing the parking lot at Triple J's Music at 308 Elliott Street, this mural by Colin Alexander shows the sternwheelers Australian and William Ogilvie at Canyon City, on the Yukon River just above Whitehorse.
I wonder what we had to do with it. Did we send you wool or coal?
ReplyDeleteSo I had to do some homework based on your question. It was a sternwheeler named The Australian.
DeleteMost likely, named for the Victoria, Australia gold rush of 1851. This of course led to the read about the Australian gold rush as I had never heard of it!
You can read about The Australian here

...a part of the world that I don't know well.
ReplyDeleteI like the vintage feel and the history behind it. I really, really, really love your new blog banner.
ReplyDeleteThe mural is quite nice and thanks for the background story too. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Jackie.
