Big Island of Hawaii

Tuesday dawned as another beautiful day but they are forecasting rain and strong tradewinds as the weekend approaches.

We decided to have lunch at Hana Hou  in Naalehu, touted as the southernmost cafe in the US. Even though we have passed by numerous times on previous trips we had nover tried it. It is also part of our mission to try local joints and local grinds. It had amazing reviews on Tripadvisor 100% thumbs up which is almost unheard of.

Lilikoi lemonade - passion fruit. It was delicious, not too sweet and they keep filling up your glass.

Burrito - huge no wonder our server asked if we were sharing.

Loco Moco a local dish. Two fried eggs atop either a hamburger patty, or in this case, pulled pork served with gravy and rice. The eggs were so fresh I was wishing I had bread to soak up the yolks. One more item knocked off my food bucket list.

Too full for dessert we picked one to go for later.

Back to the resort for a quick visit to the black sand beach.
