You know, I own a pair of black open-toed espadrilles that have a similar shape and heel height, and the weird thing is I can walk and stand in them forever. I don't wear them much because I'm over six feet tall in them, but they really don't have the feel of regular high heels.
According to the Simone de Beauvoir biography I have, all she ever wore when she was a teacher in Marseilles were espadrilles... including when she went on weekend hikes in the countryside.
Hmmm...those are some pretty high shoes for the zoo...perhaps she's looking to keep her tootsies out of anything that might be objectionable??
ReplyDeleteLOL about the piggy in the cow slippers.
