August 2017 - Toronto ON
Found in an area of Toronto that we've never really walked in, Yonge and St. Clair.
Yorkminster Park Baptist Church is the largest Baptist church in Canada, built 1926-8 by the architectural firm George, Moorhouse and King, and is named after the 10th century York Minster in York, England. It is located in Toronto's Deer Park neighbourhood at 1585 Yonge Street, the northeast corner of Yonge and Heath Streets.
YPBC has in the last fifty years been creating a collection of stained glass windows in the sanctuary that cover a wide range of biblical and secular themes, both historical and allegorical.
What a beautiful church!
ReplyDeleteWith a name like it has you would be forgiven for thinking it was a cathedral. Then you go inside and it is very cathedral like. The stained glass is beautiful.

ReplyDelete...I'm so glad that you were able to show these gorgeous windows!
ReplyDeleteThink the stained glass outshines the rest of the church
