202 : Photographer, beach, camera, tripod, and even Corky The Cat - there is so much going on in Sepia Saturday 202 that it is a theme for all seasons.
It's been a long tough week and I almost forgot it was Saturday and time for Sepia!
I'm using beach as my theme this week. These were taken in the very early 1950s outside Dublin, Ireland. I am guessing Howth.
First up my Mom in the middle flanked by her baby brother and sister. They do look thin by today's standards, but trust me they were well fed.
Mom with a girlfriend.
Mom again.
Any time at the beach is fun time in my mind! Great photos, even if it's a bit windy for your mother in the last picture, I bet she was having fun.
ReplyDeleteI think I have seen theses photos before? I remember your Uncle, who looks very thin.....but that is boys, always running around and expending energy.
ReplyDeleteWell, your mom looks well fed, but the brother and sister are so skinny! I do like that last shot of your mom - a real keeper.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Is that a cigarette in your Mom's hand & maybe a lighter in the other? Mostly, though, I've noticed in these beach posts, so many people wearing regular street shoes in the sand - some women even wearing heels as though they were headed somewhere else when they suddenly decided they wanted to stop & take a walk on the beach! :)
ReplyDeleteYou could have seen my ribs in the 1950s as well. Couldn't find them now. I like the picture of your mother with her skirt blowing.
ReplyDeleteJackie I’m so sorry for the loss of your sister. However you have the heart to post I’ve no idea, but thank you for joining us with these engaging photos, and our thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteWell done you for posting this week, I think your sister would be proud of you, she seemed from the obituary on the link to be someone who was all for 'getting on with the job'.
ReplyDeleteI like your mom's bathing suit in the first picture. It looks ruffled --or is it just the print?
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear of your loss Jackie. As you rightly say, your sister was taken too soon. Great that you found time to post those happy beach memories of your mother.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of your mother -- love those shoes! Sending you warm thoughts during this hard time...
ReplyDeleteI like the way your mom's skirt is blowing. Somehow, it makes the tilted horizon look normal.
ReplyDeleteGreat beach shots, especially the last one of your mother,
