Song-ography - Jan 26

Here's a new fun meme to join! You'll Shoot Your Eye Out rules are:

1.  Would be kinda cool if you would link back to my blog somewhere...ANYWHERE
2.  Would be kinda cool if you "followed" me.  Not to the bathroom or anything creepy...just here in blog-land.
3.  Please link up using your permalink URL.
4.  Photos MAY or MAY NOT be recently taken.  Heck, sometimes you might see a song title and think "I ALREADY have an amaaaaaaazing photograph for that song title!"  No reason you shouldn't use it.  Amazing is amazing regardless of when it's taken, right?
5.  Would be kinda cool if you'd visit some of the other participants and leave a kind word or two.  I'm from Philly, and you KNOW we have a rep for being the kindest and friendliest peeps in the world :)
6.  You may have one photo,  or drop a photo bomb of photos in your link up post.  Just please make sure your photo(s) are an interpretation of the song title for the week.
7.  Link-up will be available beginning Sunday mornings.
8.  Tell lots, and LOTS of your blogging friends so I don't feel like I'm sitting at the school lunch table all by myself on Sunday morning.  I don't want to be a "Lonesome Loser" and have to post a photo about it.Got it?  Sunday, link up, song titles, photographs that are interpretations, a mash up I'm calling Song-ography, be there...YO.

I (and John, as I rope him in for these challenges) thought long and hard about this one. It is a great song, but since we are currently spending the winter in Mexico, a long way from the cold climes of home, Toronto, we dug into the archives for something icy and wintery.

These photos were taken in 2011 our last winter in Toronto in our house before we downsized to a condo November 2012.
Winter 2012-2013 were spent south mainly in the States and a couple of weeks in Mexico.
This year we are mainly in Mexico.

Let It Go

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen

A kingdom of isolation, and it looks like I'm the Queen
The wind is howling like the swirling storm inside
Couldn't keep it in; Heaven knows I tried
Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
Well now they know

Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back any more
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don't care what they're going to say
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway

It's funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small

And the fears that once controlled me
Can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me,
I'm free!

Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
You'll never see me cry
Here I stand
And here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on

My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back, the past is in the past

Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn

Let it go, let it go
That perfect girl is gone
Here I stand
In the light of day
Let the storm rage on
The cold never bothered me anyway.

  1. I don't know the song, but I do love the photos! Snow makes for great scenes, but I feel for those who have to live in it.

  2. oh I am jealous! I am stuck right smack dab in the middle of all of this harsh winter...the next couple of days the high will be below 0!!! Enjoy your time in the warmth and leave the cold behind!

  3. I wish I had to look in my archives for snow - instead I can just look out my window! It was nice at first - but the charm is wearing off. Enjoy the warmth in sunny Mexico!

  4. The second shot, of the cars in the snow, actually makes me feel cold! This is a fun collection of winter photos -- especially if you're not in the snow and cold this year!

  6. WHOA!!!! That's some ice that is hanging from those red berries! I didni't realize you were in Mexico for the duration of winter! How fun for you! I have so enjoyed visiting everyone's blogs this week to see in what direction they have taken this song in their interpretations...and I have not been disappointed by the very many avenues. Enjoy those rays of sunshine, and thanks for joining in on Song-ography. You'll be glad to know that NEXT week's song has NOTHING to do with cold, snow or ice :)
