Keyhole Pictures this week's theme is AN ACTION SHOT.
While in Malpica Mexico on Tuesday I was "selected" by our tour guide to "assist" Jorge the tile maker.
The tiles are made from sand, cement and water. The clay/mud mixture is put in these shapes and the designs are created using the eraser end of a pencil. This is me in action!.
Jorge then uses a hand turned machine to "squeeze" the water out and then the tile is left to dry for 17 hours. This is my tile, I would have bought it but it wasn't dry enough.
VERY cool! And beautiful tile! :o)
ReplyDeleteinteresting. I've cast ceramic but all the molds are made of high quality plaster of paris.

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful evening.
Artistic action! And your tile looked great. Pity it wasn't dry enough for you to buy...
