Odd Ball Photos are those great photos that you take which really don’t seem to fit into a common category. We’ve all taken them and like them, because we just can’t hit delete and get rid of them. If you have any of those type of photos, this challenge is for you.

I don't consider it odd ball, but when I first saw the mural Home Turfed I had no idea it was the title of this display.
And when I saw the condo sandwich boards I was horrified that it meant that condos were going to be built on this special green space.
And then we tried to figure out the meaning of this grass pile when we realized it was a sleeping person.

A contemporary land art piece in an urban, post-nature environment of plastic turf and concrete, this topical topiary invites conversation about some of the most pressing issues we face today: growing economic disparity, environmental degradation, widespread mental illness and the global plight of refugees are all interrelated concerns that contribute to the affordable housing and homelessness crisis in Toronto. These issues, and those most affected, cannot simply be pushed out of view or swept under the rug. Too many can no longer afford to live in Canada’s largest cities, and other metropolitan centres around the world; we are all affected.
This project is the launching point for a series of events that will look at potential ways forward.
The collapsible structure of this sculpture is made of donated wood salvaged from Toronto construction projects. The barrier surrounding the figure is a collection of condo sandwich boards that were illegally installed on street corners around the city.
Sean Martindale is Harbourfront Centre’s inaugural Visual Artist-in-Residence in association with BRAVE: the Festival of Risk and Failure. Often using salvaged materials in his work, his acclaimed interdisciplinary practice is closely connected to the politics of public space.
The homeless sculpture is a bit peculiar.
