Monday Mural

I'm linking up at Monday Mural hosted by Oakland Daily Photo.

May 2008 - Cuba Missouri

We stopped in Cuba, MO on Route 66 on a cold, blustery spring day while driving to Branson. Everywhere you look there are murals.

The residents of Cuba, Missouri, celebrated the town’s 100th birthday in 2001 by creating the first of 16 murals, and each year, another one or two are added. Depicting everything from apple picking to the Civil War to an oversized soda fountain, Cuba has earned the nickname “Mural City.”

  1. Wow! That really is a lot of murals. There must be an incredible number of artists in this town or just one who likes to dominate. :)

  5. Wouldn't it be fun to be on the selection committee for the mural project? I imagine each reveal creates a lot of excitement in Mural City. If I'm ever on Route 66 again, Cuba Mo. will be in my GPS. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
