inSPIREd Sunday

Sally and Beth host inSPIREd Sunday!

2012 - San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua

Unexpected finds in my archives.

One of the first things you see as you drive into the beach town of San Juan del Sur is the immense statue Christ of the Mercy overlooking the bay.

Christ of the Mercy is one of the tallest Jesus in the world, standing 134m tall on one of the peaks.

And in town beside the town square is this cute church.

Christmas creche.

In the Pink

September Squares Theme In the Pink #InThePink

Some thoughts from the host:
‘In the Pink’ – means perfect condition or in good health, so that could be human or not!
‘Tickled Pink‘ – means delighted, so I’m thinking happy, fun and of course delighted. That could be you or the subject of your photograph.
Pink – anything that is coloured pink but don’t worry if it isn’t pink!
And the extra challenge for those of you up for it – can you manage to combine all three like I did last Saturday? The only thing you must ensure is that your main photograph is square, and don’t forget to pingback to one of my posts with the tag #InthePink.

Granada Nicaragua Cemetery

January 2012 - Granada Nicaragua

A re-post as we were travelling all week.

The day that we had planned to go to Mombacho and instead found Catarina we drove past this cemetery and I suggested maybe we could visit it, not something John is very fond of.
Snapped as we drove by.

We stopped on our way back and went to visit it. It was REALLY hot otherwise we would have spent more time, but the heat was just bouncing off the white cement. Whole families are buried here.
There is a monument for the ex-presidents of the country, all buried together, I wonder how they all get along?

On our way back into town we had to pull over as a funeral procession was taking place. Well, actually we pulled over but nobody else did so this was the best shot I could get of the coach carrying the coffin to the church as the people walked behind it.
