Again, a song that I've never heard....also we are not at home this week nor will we be for several months. The road will be our home.

 It is a bittersweet time of year as we have lost several family members over the last month, one of whom was my only sibling, my sister.

However, we are here in Disney World celebrating a friend's birthday. It was our wedding anniversary this week. Life goes on.

Home is a place in our memories, it changes with the seasons and holidays and each has its own rituals. Home can be a Christmas or birthday or just an ordinary occasion that evokes happy thoughts. Home can be the country or city where you were born or grew up. 
 It is whatever you want to make it.

I've learned that home IS where the heart is. It is also the anniversary of our first year in our new home, a downsized version of our home of over 21 years.

Doors close, doors open, maybe not exactly when you want them to, but they will continue to do so.

I certainly don't need a fairy castle like this to feel like I am home.

We were lucky to be at Disney Hollywood this week to see the Christmas lights. We turned a corner just as the lights started dancing!

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights (casually called the Osborne Spectacle of Lights or Osborne Dancing lights) is a seasonal display, and a annual holiday tradition for many Walt Disney World guests. Millions of lights adorn the Streets of America at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (DHS) for the Osborne Spectacle of Lights. The spectacular part comes not just from the number of lights, but from their presentation.



In addition to the lights covering the Streets of America's façades and its neighborhood props, Osborne Spectacle of Lights showcase holiday-themed animated displays and 3-D effects that are synchronized to holiday music. Snow even magically falls lightly in the Streets of America during Osborne Spectacle of Lights.

November 2013 - Disney World Orlando Florida

We're at Disney World this week to celebrate a friend's birthday. We're on the Disney meal plan and had our friend select the venue for her birthday dinner celebration. She chose Narcoossee's at the Floridian.
We had a lot of good food this week but this was definitely the highlight. Our seating was at 9PM so we were able to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks as a bonus.

To get to the restaurant from our resort we took the Disney bus to the Magic Kingdom and chose to take the water taxi over to the Floridian resort.

I am posting a collage I did for my husband a few years ago. He has almost always had some sort of mustache.

April 2004 - Venice Italy

We rented an apartment online for a week in Venice. We were told to catch the vapporetto (water bus) route 1 from Ferrovia (the train station)  to Giardini.

Our apartment didn't look anything from the outside but this is typical of the buildings in the area. However, it was a very comfortable two bedroom unit on the ground floor.

It was an easy walk to the water buses or to go shopping. We would walk through a park with a fountain.

Or perhaps to have a coffee and pastry while watching the locals.
