Some random thoughts...
The Canadian dollar is around 11 pesos to the dollar and the US dollar is around 16 pesos.
Irma, our maid, works six days a week, ten hours a day and makes $100 pesos for a week.
It costs 10 pesos for the bus into town.
It costs 120 pesos to take a pulmonia or taxi downtown.
A loaf of fresh bread from Wal*Mart or Mega averages about 11 pesos.
A can of whole tomatoes is 12.50 pesos.
Four bananas were 13 pesos.
0.5 kg of ground beef was 82 pesos.
New Year's dinner at the restaurant with open bar is 1,100 pesos per person.
Thursday - Christmas Eve.
The plan was to have a lazy day but then we received a phone call from Carol saying there were heading into Centro to pick up her camera and Bill's watches, did we want to join them? Sure.
When we got into the car Bill said he wanted to go to Panama's for breakfast or lunch. Did we, sure!
We've shopped in Panama's but never eaten in there.
John and I had The Morning Roll (no comments) to share. A crepe stuffed with egg, ham, cheese and mushrooms.
Carol and I had this refreshing drink, the guys made faces when they tried it.
Everything in town started closing up around 2 PM so we drove and then came back. None of us had any plans to head out tonight as this is the big holiday for Mexicans.
Friday - Christmas Day
Spent the day by the pool. Tough.
Happy Hour!
Bill and Carol were going to pick us up but Carol called to say they would be taking a cab instead so we met them at Beach Burger and our front row seats to listen to Rafael. We bought one of his CDs.
Seems Willie was out of sorts and his get up and go got up and went. The
Saturday
We treated like any Boxing Day. Doing what we felt like and not even getting dressed.
Sunday
WOW it was really windy this morning! We wore sweaters to go to breakfast with Bill and Carol at Torres Mazatlan.
Then we headed over to the RV park for a visit with Bill and Carol. Poor Willie, still under the weather.
We came back and decided to go to the restaurant for dinner. It is definitely not as good as Torres.
Don't imagine we will go there again.
Mexican plate for John and fajitas for me.
Monday
We did our usual morning, breakfast, reading and blogging then grabbed the bus into town.
The bus almost immediately and only costs 10 pesos less than a dollar.
No real plans, we get off the bus at the market and wander over to the historico centro around Machado.
Just can't help more church photos!
We both had pedicures and I took advantage of their wi-fi to load up my tablet with library books and bought some as well.
Finally lunch at 2:30 La Mona's.
Back to the market to catch the bus.
We took the bus to Mega as we needed groceries.
Mega sells everything along with groceries. I LOVE this pink washing machine!!

The plan after lunch was to go to the pool but it was completely packed so we enjoyed reading instead.

For dinner we made chilli which turned out really well considering I don't have a cornucopia of spices to work with.
Wednesday
After fresh orange juice, grapefruit and a banana we took the bus to Mary's in the Golden Zone for burgers for lunch.
We walked back taking our time.
We made a stop at Henderson's a butcher that carries Alberta beef for steaks for new year's eve.
It turned out to be a cloudy afternoon and the winds picked up. We then had leftover chili for dinner, even tastier than the first night.
It is necessary for the new year that you buy yellow or red underwear. It is not uncommon to see Christmas trees wearing underwear!!!
Red signifies courage, love, and a better lifestyle therefore money. Yellow signifies enjoyment and blessings or love.
And a flower from around the resort to end this week and year.
