STATES Illinois - Indiana - Ohio

A rainy morning as we left Naperville IL. Naperville is a suburb west of Chicago and traffic was surprisingly heavy for a Sunday morning,  It was 9:30 when we left, the latest departure of our trip.

Once we got past Chicago and onto a toll road, I 88, it was much quieter.

More tolls!

We lost an hour so it was 12:30 when we had brunch in Elkhart.

Fifth Third Field, located at 406 Washington St., is the anchor of Hensville and downtown Toledo's Warehouse District. The award-winning facility is home to the Toledo Mud Hens, Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, and plays host to 70 regular season baseball games a year. Opened in 2002, Fifth Third Field was named the top ballpark in Minor League Baseball by Newsweek.

I have questions..
FIFTH THIRD BANK???  The name "Fifth Third" is derived from the names of the bank's two predecessor companies, Third National Bank and Fifth National Bank, which merged in 1909.

MUD HEN????  HENSVILLE????
The Toledo baseball Mud Hens earned their present name in 1896 and have kept it, with very few exceptions, ever since. In that year the team played at Bay View Park. The surrounding marshland was frequented by these strange birds. The abundance of mud hens near the park brought about the nickname and the rest, as they say, is history.

Hensville is an entertainment district in Downtown Toledo around the Toledo Mud Hens ballpark. Hensville features a park (concert and festival venue), two restaurants, shopping, and rooftop seating.

We used the valet service at the downtown Hilton Garden Inn.

We didn't realize that Toledo was on the path of totality for the eclipse. The hotel is fully booked and the city expects large crowds.
