Saturday I scanned the last of the photos I had found. I am sure there are more in the trunk!

I backed up my files and filed July and August 2022.

I worked on our vacation posts to save me time while we are away.

Monday John golfed. I had grandiose plans but it was so hot, humid and windy I decided to do the minimum and picked up some groceries. I am trying not to buy too much since we will be away but we did need some vegetables.

I did do another Zoom call with my untechy friend. She wants to attend the virtual condo general meeting at the end of September and we will not be around to help her.

Tuesday and rain was forecast so we went to the locker to bring up a few things for our driving vacation.

I have become addicted to this Scrabble game Play Scrabble. A word to the wise, if you load it and it is excruciatingly slow change your browser. I have no trouble with Chrome but a friend did so she changed her browser and is now addicted too!

Wednesday John golfed. I headed out at 11:20 to get a haircut. Then I wandered around for a while and had a Subway for lunch. They are not as good as there were before the pandemic. Won't be bothering with them again.

Inside Metro Hall.

Downstairs Metro Hall, when I worked across the street this was my route to the subway and for shopping and lunches. Now there are no stores left. There used to be at least 3/4 women's shops, a jeweler that I loved for repairs, a photography shop, a framer, a market that had a great salad bar, 2 hairdressers (1 is gone), a shoe shop, Starbucks, a kitchen store,a card store,car rental and a few more.

Rexall is still there as is the cleaners and shoe repair. Basically it met all my needs!

Metro Hall is a 27 floor building, part of a three tower Metro Centre and houses the City of Toronto offices. There is still a fairly decent food court.

I worked in the short building on the left at the end, that you can hardly see. All those towers have been built in the last 10 years except for TIFF tower, we watched that being built for our office buildings. It opened in 2010.

TIFF is the highlight of September. Toronto International Film Festival.

Then I headed to Libretto's to pick up pizza kits. Each kit comes with two doughs, sauce, pepperoni (additional cost as is the gluten free dough), cheeses, oils and basil. I brought it home and went back downtown to pick dinner and found salted caramel ice cream on special.

Thursday morning we both went for mani-pedis. I went shoe shopping but didn't find anything. Ca la vie. John wanted to get the car washed and vacuumed but the car wash was broken.

Friday John bottled his wine. Went for acupuncture and gassed up and got the car washed and vacuumed. I went to the $ store and picked up some sweet potatoes for dinner along with more ice cream. I came home and started sorting and packing clothes. There is stuff everywhere as we think of things to bring. The suitcases will be packed for the tour but its contents will depend as we get closer depending on the weather. When John got home he packed his stuff.

I cleaned out the fridge, the extra jalapenos went into a pickling jar. 

IN THE NEWS

Canada deputy PM Chrystia Freeland abused in Alberta, Trudeau calls it part of a trend. It is under investigation by th RCMP.

In the video of the incident shared on Twitter late on Friday, Freeland was approaching the elevator of a city hall building in Grande Prairie, Alberta, when one man shouted at her.
"What the fuck are you doing in Alberta?" the man said as Freeland walked toward and into the elevator. He also called her a "traitor" and a "fucking bitch." The video had hundreds of thousands of views.

We don't really have security details around our politicians. She often goes to meetings on her bicycle. But there is concerns that she needs security.

It is the start of the Labour Day long weekend! The air show is on this weekend. We are heading out on Sunday for a month long driving vacation!

Saturday pork ribs and kale salad with soda bread.

WATCHING

Saturday night we watched a horror movie (something we normally don't watch) and were kept entertained once we suspended our analytical minds! It had a great soundtrack.
Last Night in Soho is a 2021 British psychological horror film. It stars Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith, Rita Tushingham, Michael Ajao, Terence Stamp and Diana Rigg. It marks the final film appearances of Rigg and Margaret Nolan, who both died in 2020. The film is dedicated to the memories of Rigg and Nolan.

The Duke is a 2020 British comedy-drama film directed by Roger Michell. Dealing with the 1961 theft of the Portrait of the Duke of Wellington, the film stars Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, Fionn Whitehead, Anna Maxwell Martin and Matthew Goode. It was Michell's penultimate film before his death on 22 September 2021. This was a great watch! Broadbent and Mirren are amazing.

Death on the Nile is a 2022 mystery film directed by Kenneth Branagh from a screenplay by Michael Green, based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. John quite enjoyed it. I have never been a fan of anything Agatha Christie and have always disliked the character Hercule Poirot.

Loving Adults - "Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when we first practice to deceive." A frustrated middle-aged married man has an affair with a younger colleague from work. One night, he receives a text message in bed. His wife suspects something. The man attempts to resolve the matter. One of them fails and the other does not. This Danish mystery thriller has more twists than a Hitchcockian turnstile. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Needless to say, this viewer was kept in the dark until the very end, and then he still wasn't sure. But was it really the end? Only some of the characters will ever possibly know.

I Came By - A graffiti artist who targets homes of the elite uncovers a twisted secret in a hidden basement — triggering events that put his loved ones in danger. This was good.

READING

I read The Ex-Husband, it starts off a little slowly and I'm not a fan of her writing style, short choppy sentences. It does get better, but it requires a little suspended belief.

I started Early Morning Riser, a beautifully written story about life and its complications and quirks.
