Day 7 - Madison to Owosso

October 2016 - Owosso MI

The view the next morning.

Upon check out the next morning I was not asked if we enjoyed our stay. It was very perfunctory.
Valet parking was $24 US here. No complimentary coffee provided.

As we exit the hotel parking lot.

We had planned on going to a quaint coffeeshop I had heard about but one look at it and we changed our minds.

On the highway we stopped for gas and John got a coffee at Arby's (awful) and I got a couple of salted caramel cookies - really good.

Getting through Chicago is always a challenge.

Lots of construction and more tolls.

An alien!

We pull into Union Pier to find the St. Julian Cider location.

If you are interested in gambling (we're not) there are lots of casinos along the way.

Gorgeous late afternoon light.

We reserved at the Comstock Inn and Conference Center - photo from their website.

From the moment you step in it is dated and tired as you are greeted by a large display of fake flowers. Looked like a funeral parlor.
I was told our room was "closer to this elevator" what he should have said was that it was across from the elevator. Bing, bing all night.
Oh, did I mention the barking dog next door???
The room itself needs updating into the 21st century. Bathroom sink was cracked and stained. No toilet lid on the toilet.

There is a restaurant on the premises, called a Tavern. It is a local hangout and they don't even have a wine list, just glasses of wine which was actually quite good. No gluten free beer or cider options.
Steak was cooked perfectly as were the ribs.

We didn't take photos of our food as we were surrounded by locals and would have felt silly.

When I voiced my disappointment on checkout I was offered a discount until the clerk saw that I had booked with Expedia so he could not do anything for me.
