When we visited the historical museum in La Quinta a couple of weeks ago I was delighted to see their Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) exhibit done by locals.
Boxes were created by local artists and residents using their own interpretations of the vibrant Dia de los Muertos holiday creating displays to honor loved ones who have passed on, or a celebration of historical events.
It is not a sad celebration rather a day to enjoy our memories.
These were not easy to photograph as they were displayed in glass cabinets.
It's outside of my cultural experience, so the Day of the Dead is unusual to me!
