April 2015 - Austin TX

Picture walking down the street and suddenly seeing this sculpture and realizing it is a homeless Jesus. It is at the Central Presbyterian Church on Brazos at 8th Street.

In reaching this I came across some fascinating (to me) facts. The sculptor is Canadian, so am I. And in May 2015 he unveiled another sculpture of a homeless Jesus in Dublin, my birth place.

Installed in February 2015 via an anonymous donation, the statue was placed to challenge passersby to recognize the sacredness in marginalized individuals. Shortly after its installation, the moving imagery inspired a single viewer to make a $100,000 donation to a local homeless charity.

  3. Wow, that really is quite thought provoking.
That is a different type of steeple on that church, I thought it was a crane for a start.
