It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. For this meme, bloggers post what they finished last week, what they're currently reading, and what they plan to start this week.
My comments are not meant to be recaps of the story lines as I include a link to Goodreads for their synopsis of the book. I am merely stating how I felt about the book without giving any spoilers.

A slow reading week but City of Ice was a long book.

60 COMPLETED READS TO DATE!
1 ABANDONED
1 not finished as it expired so I will have to borrow it again. The Nightmare

FINISHED:
City of Ice

The attention to details of Montreal streets and  landmarks brought me right back to growing up there.
A good book, a little long and dragged a bit in the middle, but certainly enjoyable.
The playing of English against French was very real and references to the differences in language was handled very truthfully.

STARTED:

Becoming Josephine
A sweeping historical debut about the Creole socialite who transformed herself into an empress

Readers are fascinated with the wives of famous men. In Becoming Josephine, debut novelist Heather Webb follows Rose Tascher as she sails from her Martinique plantation to Paris, eager to enjoy an elegant life at the royal court. Once there, however, Rose’s aristocratic soldier-husband dashes her dreams by abandoning her amid the tumult of the French Revolution. After narrowly escaping death, Rose reinvents herself as Josephine, a beautiful socialite wooed by an awkward suitor—Napoleon Bonaparte.

  2. With academics I find it hard at times to find enough time to get reading in for sheer pleasure as opposed to academic demand.

  3. I am re-reading Macbeth. Love it. Want to read a few more plays and am hoping my hubby will read the next ones with me.

  5. I would like to read Becoming Josephine. Another author has written a trilogy about Josephine. She must have led an interesting life. Did she marry Napoleon and have children, or did they just date?
