Let's go to African Lion Safari for this challenge.
African Lion Safari is safari park in Southern Ontario, straddling the cities of Hamilton and Cambridge, located 100 kilometres (62 mi) west of Toronto. Guests may tour seven game reserves (with a total area of about 740 acres (300 hectares)) via tour buses or visitors' own vehicles where animals roam freely in contained areas. Accompanying the game reserves is a walking section where exotic birds and primates, as well as the park's herd of Asian elephants, are on display.

Six Word Saturday - Wedding
We left around 9 for Montreal. Traffic was heavy at times.
And then not, what a gorgeous sky!
We had rented an AirBnB our hosts Gordon and Louis were there to greet us and show us around. They provided coffee and cream, a bottle of wine and a couple of cold ones in the fridge!
Even robes!
Out for dinner with John's son and his kids. This is my spanakopita at Marathon on the West Island. It was good but a little overdone.

One Word Sunday - Colourful
After coffee we headed to John's daughter's, for breakfast.
They headed out to a hockey game and we played Scrabble with his granddaughter.
In the afternoon we all went to see Montreal play soccer against Toronto, a stubborn rivalry, no matter the sport and this was no different with rude fans on both sides. Toronto won, WOO HOO 🙌🙌🙌
The tower in the background is the infamous Olympic Stadium for the games in 1976 it is nicknamed "The Big O", a reference to both its name and to the doughnut-shape of the permanent component of the stadium's roof. It is also called "The Big Owe" to reference the astronomical cost of the stadium and the 1976 Olympics as a whole.
Dinner was ar Del Frisco's an Italian restaurant that does gluten free, owned by former Canadien hockey player Larry Robinson, who happened to be there and
graciously posed for a photo with family.

We headed out early and thought about doing a lunch time Thousand Island boat cruise from Kingston.

But we got sidelined and decided instead to meander along the old Highway 2 for a few hours stopping as we felt like.

John headed out to run some errands and I met my BFF downtown. After a satisfying trip to the $ store we went for lunch and a good chat.
I NEED these mugs!
Seriously! Halloween? But then the candies have been out for a month. This phone was a hoot, when you dialed its eyes lit up.
Gorgeous flower arrangement in our lobby.
We then headed out to family for dinner. A delicious pork tenderloin with an onion sauce and roasted vegetables with a flourless chocolate cake.

John had his weekly golf and I went for a hair cut.

Like some medieval castle under a warlock’s curse, the Olympic stadium – visible from dozens of different vantage points in the city, an inescapable reminder of what went wrong – continued to be plagued with problems. In the 1980s, the tower caught fire. In August of 1986, a chunk of it fell on to the baseball field, forcing the Expos to postpone a game. In September of 1991, a bigger 55-tonne concrete slab fell on to an empty walkway. The OIB reassured the public no one was underneath it, prompting one columnist to ask: “How do they know?”
The retractable roof never happened; instead, an orange Kevlar roof was finally installed in April of 1987. It tore repeatedly, until it was replaced in 1998 by a fixed roof, which cost another $37m. In the winter of the next year, that roof tore under a heavy snow load, sending a small avalanche of ice cascading on to workers preparing for a motor show.

John took the car for a checkup for our cross country drive. I went downtown and got new running shoes and some vegetables for the weekend.

John took the car for a checkup for our cross country drive. I went downtown and got new running shoes and some vegetables for the weekend.

I was almost tempted to wait for the next shuttle! Or perhaps come downtown tomorrow.

African Lion Safari

John had never been to African Lion Safari and we decided to go on Thursday.
We would have waited until the kids were back in school next week but we are heading on a road trip on Tuesday.
Corporate Philosophy
African Lion Safari is a Canadian owned family business created in the name of conservation.
Our manner of exhibiting animals is completely different from the traditional approach; that is, the visitor is caged in the car, and the animals roam in 2 to 20 hectare (5 to 50 acre) reserves.
We first opened the gates to the public in 1969 with 40 lions in 3 reserves; today the park houses in excess of 1,000 animals comprised of over 100 species. After over 45 years we have been successful with breeding 30 species that are considered endangered and 20 species that are considered threatened. The original idea of "maintaining self-sustaining populations of species in decline" is still our priority.
You can choose to drive your own car through or take a bus for $5.25 per person. You get a much better view on the bus!
“African Queen” Boat Cruise
Set sail on the "African Queen" boat as you enjoy a pleasant tour around Water Safari Lake. The informative captain will take you on a cruise around the islands and point out exotic primates including the Ring-tailed lemur, black and white ruffed lemur and spider monkey.
Bird dwellers include the marabou stork, Australian black swan and the African Pink-backed pelican.
Birds of prey displayed in the park include bald eagle, golden eagle, African fish eagle, tawny eagle, peregrine falcon, red-tailed hawk, great black hawk, Harris' hawk, ferruginous hawk, snowy owl, Eurasian eagle-owl, barn owl, spectacled owl, great horned owl, burrowing owl, marabou stork, black vulture, king vulture, turkey vulture, cinereous vulture, Andean condor, steppe eagle, lanner falcon, and American kestrel.
Other animals exhibited in the walk-through area include Asian elephant, American flamingo, collared peccary, black-capped squirrel monkey, Indian flying fox, alpaca, Indian peafowl, pygmy goat, African pied crow, tufted capuchin, screamer, violet turaco, Victoria crowned pigeon, and laughing kookaburra.

Get closer than you ever imagined to majestic birds and animals from around the world as you drive along 9 kilometres of trail, through 7 large Game Reserves featuring Nairobi Sanctuary, Simba Lion Country, Timbavati Lion Country, Wankie Bushland Trail, Rocky Ridge Veldt, Eurasia and The Americas.
You will enter an environment that is home to over 1,000 birds and animals, many of which are classified as endangered or threatened species.
Timbavati Lion Country is home to white lions, also known as Timbavati lions. This reserve also has a rock structure for the lions to rest or play on.The white lion is a rare color mutation of the lion. Up until 2009, when the first pride of white lions was reintroduced to the wild, it was widely believed that the white lion could not survive in the wild. It is for this reason that a large part of the population of white lions now reside in zoos.
Wankie Bushland Trail is home to olive baboons, bongo and miniature zebu. The baboons' tower is a house and a playground for them.
The Rocky Ridge Veldt includes Rothschild's giraffe, Grant's zebra, wildebeest, eland, Barbary sheep, ostrich, white rhinoceros, addax, and scimitar-horned oryx. This reserve is grassy with a hut for the wildebeest.
The Eurasia reserve includes Himalayan tahr, yak, nilgai, mouflon, sika deer, fallow deer, Père David's deer, emu, and Sicilian donkey. In smaller fenced areas on the periphery of this reserve are enclosures for Turkmenian (Bukharan) markhor, Sichuan takin, Bactrian camel, sarus crane, red kangaroo, and red-necked wallaby. The reserve is grassy.

The North America reserve is home to American bison, North American elk, and fallow deer. This reserve is grassy.
Parrots and toucans displayed outside the walking area of the park include African grey parrot, scarlet macaw, blue-and-yellow macaw, military macaw, great green macaw, hyacinth macaw, red-and-green macaw, Catalina macaw, white cockatoo, salmon-crested cockatoo, galah, Alexandrine parakeet, princess parrot, channel-billed toucan, and white-throated toucan.

Duma Cheetah Preserve is home to cheetahs. This reserve features several pens where the cheetahs live either separately or grouped. The cheetahs have small house-like structures that they can rest in if they wish.
Simba Lion Country is home to African lions in their normal yellow color. The reserve consists of, like the other reserves such as the Nairobi Sanctuary, a large grassy field. This reserve is notable because it has a structure made out of rocks so the lions can rest.
Timbavati Lion Country is home to white lions, also known as Timbavati lions.
